Spadina Security was called out by a Toronto area daycare who was having trouble programming their new Eplex 5700 lock. The lock was installed on a door with a panic bar. By entering the code staff and parents were able to unlock this interior door. There was a need for timed access based on codes. Basically they wanted the staff code to work during the day and not at night. There was also a parent code, a cleaner code and an administration code, each with a specific schedule.
No Problem. This is just the type of job Kaba designed this lock to do.
The locksmith who installed the lock worked for a well-known door company. He wasn’t able to program the lock. A second locksmith was called. Both locksmiths were trained by the Kaba factory and are listed on the Kaba website just like Spadina Security.
The difference turned out to be our experience with Access Control. We install several access control systems a month. We are used to designing and programming electronic locking systems. Most locksmiths have trouble with electronics. Spadina Security is a hybrid company – we specialize in the new electronic locks and access systems as well as the standard mechanical locking systems.
After a few hours of installing software and programming, the lock all worked fine.
